Kevin’s recipe for growth? Good food, great people and the right bank.
A numbers guy with a love for good food and even better company, Kevin Lacassin spent his early career as a financial advisor by day and a food blogger by night. Running one of New Orleans’ top food blogs became an outlet to share his taste, his voice and his undeniable knack for bringing people together around the table.
“It’s not just about growing, it’s about keeping our promises. Having the right team, delivering quality and making sure we invest in things that actually make us better.”
“I’ve always loved hosting” he said. “Planning the menu, setting the tone, making sure people feel taken care of—it’s just who I am.”
That instinct eventually pulled him out of finance and into full-time hospitality and entrepreneurship. Today, he’s the founder of Good Food Events + Catering, one of Tampa’s most creative culinary companies and the kind of business that’s known as much for its heart as its presentation.
“It all felt a little stale,” Kevin described Tampa’s catering scene after moving in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. “I knew we could bring something different.”
And he did. From elevated takes on comfort classics to inclusive, globally inspired menus, Good Food Events + Catering was built to surprise and delight. But like many great ideas, it needed the right foundation to grow.
“One of the toughest parts of owning a catering company is figuring out the real estate situation,” he said. “The right kitchen, the right location—that can make or break you.”
He had his eye on a kitchen that seemed like the perfect fit. It had potential, personality and a past with Synovus, who had previously financed the property.
That’s when the relationship began.
“They took a chance on me,” said Kevin. Synovus helped him secure the space that became the heartbeat of his business and the launchpad for everything that followed.
Since then, the partnership has been steady. Synovus has supported Kevin through the expansion of multiple properties and the acquisition of a second company—always with a focus on sustainable, quality-driven growth.
“It’s not just about growing,” he said. “It’s about keeping our promises. Having the right team, delivering quality and making sure we invest in things that actually make us better.”
At his core, Kevin Lacassin is still the guy who loves to throw a great party. But now, thanks to vision, hard work and the right financial partner, he’s doing it at scale.
