CAC Group’s best policy? Growth, ownership and the right financial partner.
At CAC Group, growth has never been just about numbers. It has always been about people—their opportunities, their ownership and their future.
That philosophy began in 1992, when Grantland Rice III and his partners acquired Cobbs, Allen & Hall, laying the foundation for what would become CAC Group. From the beginning, the firm was structured as employee-owned, an uncommon move in the insurance industry. “We wanted our people to have the chance to build wealth and ownership in the business,” said Grantland III. “From receptionists to producers, everyone had the opportunity.”
That vision still defines CAC Group today. With more than 600 employees and nearly 300 shareholders, the firm has grown into one of the largest independent, employee-owned insurance agencies nationwide.
“We’re growing more each year, and with partners like Synovus, we can grow above industry standards for several more years.”
Today, CAC Group has grown well beyond its legacy foundation, adding specialty platforms where deeper expertise creates lasting value. At the center of that growth is Grantland Rice IV, who leads with his father’s steady, people-first approach. His focus is on consistency, making sure the right specialists are in the right roles so CAC Group can continue scaling with purpose. “We’ve created consistency by bringing in specialists who know their industries inside and out,” he says. “That’s how we position CAC Group for long-term success.”
Through every stage of expansion, one financial partner has been constant: Synovus. The relationship began in the late 1990s and has matured into a strategic alliance that has scaled in lockstep with CAC Group’s evolution from a fast-growing regional agency to a national powerhouse.
For Johnathan Daniel, who began as corporate controller before becoming chief financial officer, that continuity has been critical. “When I took on the controllership role, I realized Synovus’ platforms and people were second to none. They’re embedded in how we operate. They help us think strategically, plan long-term and move quickly when we need it. Their responsiveness gives us the confidence to keep scaling.”
That momentum is carried forward through Allison Eden, who facilitates CAC Group’s daily operations, delivering what Johnathan describes as “white-glove service,” translating strategy and proactive solutions into action and progress. “We’re growing more each year,” he says. “And with partners like Synovus, we can grow above industry standards for several more years.”
For Grantland IV, it all comes back to shared values. “Synovus has always had our back,” he says. “They understand what we stand for—integrity, responsiveness and relationships—and they make sure we’re ready for what’s next.”
