Alan Posey

Alan M. Posey joined Synovus as a Financial Advisor in 2023. Alan came to Synovus from Wells Fargo Advisors, where he cut his teeth as a junior partner for a team that managed $450 million of assets and provided clients with investment planning and estate planning strategies. Currently enrolled in Florida State University’s Financial Planning program, Alan uses a financial planning approach for each client’s situation to provide insight & guidance.

A native Athenian, Alan attended Clarke Central High School. He was twice named to the All-State football team and led the Gladiators to the state championship game in 2009. He accepted a football scholarship to the University of Tennessee, where he played for Derek Dooley. At UT, Alan was named to the Dean's List and the Southeastern Conference's Academic Honor Roll. Alan also spent a year as a starting tackle for the upstart Mercer Bears before returning to Knoxville to finish his undergraduate degree. Upon graduation from Tennessee, Alan spent a summer working in hospitality in Glacier National Park and stayed in the Pacific Northwest to work in retail sales and in account management for an environmental technology company. He later relocated to Atlanta before entering the financial industry in Athens.

Alan and his wife Kelly reside in Oconee County with their two sons and attend Watkinsville First Baptist. Active in his community, Alan has served as past Treasurer for the Clarke Central Touchdown Club, and is current President of the Athens-Area Tennessee Alumni chapter. An avid hiker, Alan has hiked in the Appalachian, Rocky, Cascade, Olympic, Sierra Nevada and Sangre de Cristo Mountain ranges.
