Alan M. Posey, CFP® is Vice President – Investments at Synovus. He joined the firm in 2023 after beginning his career with Wells Fargo Advisors. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner, Alan provides clients with a meticulous, detail-oriented approach rooted in comprehensive financial planning, strategic insight, and long-term relationship building.

A native Athenian, Alan was a two-time All-State football selection at Clarke Central High School, where he led the Gladiators to the 2009 state championship game. He went on to play football at the University of Tennessee under Derek Dooley, earning Dean’s List honors and recognition on the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll. Alan was also part of Mercer University’s revival of their football program. In their first season in the Southern Conference, he started all 12 games at offensive tackle for the Bears. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 2017.

Deeply involved in his community, he is currently President of the Athens-Area Tennessee Alumni Chapter, has served as Treasurer of the Clarke Central Touchdown Club and is a past member of the Rotary Club of Athens. Alan also speaks to local high school football programs to emphasize the importance of financial literacy and to empower the next generation to make smart financial decisions.

Alan lives in Oconee County with his wife, Kelly, and their children. The Poseys are active members of Watkinsville First Baptist Church. Outside of the office, Alan enjoys tending to his lawn and garden, smoking various meats, quality time with his family, attending concerts and summiting Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks.
