Eddie is the only Synovus banker, as far as we know, who not only has played football for legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, but also is the mayor of the city where his bank is located. A Phenix City native, Eddie began his banking career during school summer vacations. While working on a degree in finance at the University of Alabama, he became the permanent captain of Coach Bryant’s last football team. He played professionally in the Canadian Football League for nine years before returning to East Alabama, where he is now responsible for the operation of our four branches.
