Dixon Harrill

Dixon Harrill

Market Executive
South Carolina Upstate Region

With more than 35 years of banking experience, Dixon joined Synovus in 2017 to lead the upstate region of South Carolina, including the Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson markets. “Right here in our communities, we take care of people, families, and companies by helping them meet their financial needs,” says Dixon. “We have such great people and a great culture here.”

Dixon earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Furman University, and he’s also a graduate of the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Graduate Banking School at Louisiana State University. A native of South Carolina, Dixon is thankful to call this area “home.” He lives in Greenville with his wife, and they have four children. In his free time, Dixon njoys spending time on the lake with his family.

Karen Gurgew

Private Wealth Advisor

This Hendersonville, N.C. native has over three decades of experience working in financial services in the Carolinas. She holds a Securities License Series 7 and 66, and is a S.C. and N.C. life, health, and long-term care insurance agent. A graduate of Mars Hill College and Blue Ridge Community College, she joined Synovus in 2017. She enjoys spending time with her son and his family, as well as time with her husband, Phil, a Realtor.

“When contacted by Synovus for a Private Wealth Advisor opening, I was excited about working with a smaller bank that would allow me to provide a more personalized approach and build lasting relationships with my clients,” she says. “I find tremendous satisfaction in providing financial planning and advice that makes a difference in my clients’ lives.”

Mark Freeman

Middle Market Banker, Sr.

Mark Freeman joined Synovus in 2019 to be part of an organization and team that is growing—and one that has a culture of integrity. He enjoys developing relationships with customers and prospects and finding banking solutions that meet their needs. In banking for over 30 years, he holds a Bachelor of Art in journalism from The University of Georgia, as well as an MBA from Vanderbilt University. The married father of two grew up in Greenville, SC and enjoys football and weightlifting.

Jarred Overcash

Regional Retail Sales Manager
South Carolina

Jarred joined Synovus in 2018 bringing 20 years of banking experience with him. He earned a Business Administration and Management degree from the College of Charleston, where he also played baseball. Jarred is motivated by building effective relationships with everyone in the industry, whether competitor, customer, peer, team member, direct report or prospect. He has been successful at coaching his team to a high performance of helping customers reach their financial goals. When not working, Jarred enjoys fishing, family beach trips and supporting his 4 daughters’ athletic activities.

Chuck Garnett

C.W. "Chuck" Garnett

Division CEO

Born in Columbia and raised in Charleston, Chuck knows South Carolina from the mountains to the coast—a fitting background for the leader who oversees our statewide presence. He began his banking career in 1984 and joined NBSC (now known as Synovus) in 1993. Over the years, his responsibilities have expanded from Upstate Regional Executive to Division CEO. “At Synovus,” Chuck says, “our bankers believe in giving back to their communities as well as playing a role in helping their communities grow and prosper.” He’s a perfect example of this philosophy in action.
