Pinnacle Financial Partners gains market share, places No. 5 in Alabama
Mobile sees biggest market share gain in the firm, Florida Panhandle maintains market share position while serving clients through integration with Synovus
Birmingham, Ala., Sept. 23, 2026 – Pinnacle Financial Partners continued to grow across Alabama following its merger with Synovus, reaching $8.2 billion in local deposits as of June 30, 2026, according to newly released FDIC data. Pinnacle now ranks No. 5 statewide, with 5.7% market share, and is the fastest-growing financial institution in Mobile.
“The first credit belongs to our clients, who continue to place their trust in us, and to our team members, who earn that trust every day,” said Chris Abele, Pinnacle's state head of Alabama banking. “Our growth strategy starts locally. We know the financial professionals in this market, we know the businesses and families they serve, and we know what it takes to build lasting relationships here. The numbers are simply evidence that those relationships are growing.”
Statewide, Pinnacle ranks among the top five in market share in five of the nine MSAs where it operates, including No. 2 in Huntsville. In the nearby Florida Panhandle, the firm is second in market share for Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Brent and third in Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin, despite slower deposit growth over the past year.
Pinnacle experienced its biggest market share gains in its coastal Alabama markets, Daphne-Fairhope-Foley and Mobile, growing deposits by nearly $200 million.

The firm holds the No. 1 position in six markets across the Southeast, including Nashville, Tennessee, and Columbus, Georgia, and is top 3 in 15 markets. In Nashville, Pinnacle is the No. 1 bank by deposits with $22.7 billion, and in Atlanta, No. 4 with $17.1 billion.
These results come during Pinnacle’s first year as a combined company following its January 2026 merger with Synovus. Throughout integration, local financial advisors have continued to serve clients and pursue new relationships while dedicated teams work on the operational integration behind the scenes. At the same time, local leaders have kept Pinnacle’s recruiting engine running, with 12 new revenue-producing team members hired in Alabama, including Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile, and the Florida panhandle, through July 15, 2026, adding even more experienced financial professionals with deep local relationships and expertise.
The newly released FDIC data also reflects the combined deposits of legacy Pinnacle and Synovus. Alabama is among the states where both firms had an existing presence, so a portion of the year-over-year change reflects the combination of those local franchises.
