Pinnacle Financial Partners expands Tallahassee leadership team with veteran banker

Chris Mills brings 26 years of local market banking experience to the firm

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Aug. 6, 2026 — Pinnacle Financial Partners has named Chris Mills as regional president in Tallahassee, a key leadership role in the firm’s locally based business model, which gives bankers the ability to make decisions close to the clients and communities they know best. A longtime banker in the region, Mills has 26 years of experience strengthening client relationships and helping businesses and families navigate financial decisions.

He joins Pinnacle from Truist, where he most recently served as market president in Tallahassee. In his new role, Mills will support Pinnacle’s continued growth in Tallahassee and neighboring areas of North Florida, working with the team of financial professionals to serve businesses, families and community organizations through Pinnacle’s client-focused advisory approach.

“Chris knows Tallahassee because he has spent his career here, sitting across the table from business owners, families and civic leaders who count on their banker to understand what matters to them,” said Scott Keith, Pinnacle’s state head of Greater Florida. “He has built strong teams and long-term relationships with clients during his career. Through his leadership and knowledge, our clients in Tallahassee have another experienced advocate who can help them make confident financial decisions.”

Pinnacle continues to invest in Florida following its merger with Synovus earlier this year and maintains its focus on recruiting proven local leaders who understand client needs and can strengthen the firm’s presence in the region. Mills will work alongside longtime leader Bill Moore, who will continue to lead the firm’s commercial banking in the market.

“Tallahassee is where I’ve built my career, raised my family and formed lasting relationships with people who care deeply about this community,” said Mills. “What sets Pinnacle apart is its commitment to local decision-making and a culture that empowers bankers to do what is right for clients. We already have a talented team serving this market, and I’m excited to work alongside them as we continue building something special. By empowering great bankers and adding talent where needed, we can deliver responsive service, impactful and strategic advice, and the kind of partnership that makes banking easier. I look forward to growing our presence across Tallahassee and North Florida while helping businesses, families and communities achieve their goals.”

A Florida native, Mills earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and financial management services from the University of West Florida. He is certified in risk management from the Risk Management Association. Mills is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee and also serves on the executive boards of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Big Bend and the Florida State University College of Business Board of Governors.
