Commercial real estate leader’s tenacity grows business relationships

Johnny Vance, senior director of hospitality banking group at Synovus, shares that he approaches his role with the determination of a wolf. His persistence and adaptability helped him successfully close a significant refinancing deal with a hotelier after years of relationship building.

“Success in a deal like this goes beyond simply getting it across the finish line. It’s about cultivating long-term relationships and the value they bring to the bank,” he recalls. Vance realized that he couldn’t close the deal without his team. He acknowledges how his team members worked together in securing the best terms for the deal and crafting “an impressive approval package and proposal.” 

“I’ve learned that persistence is an invaluable lesson from past setbacks,” Vance explains. “Success often requires multiple attempts, and it's crucial to keep going when faced with challenges.” His determination deepened the client relationship and forged a partnership centered around a thriving hotel. “I believe success also comes down to how well you manage your time and stay focused on your goals,” he explains.

And it’s about setting the stage for future opportunities, which we’re already seeing with a project on the southside of Atlanta,” he says.
