Synovus names Leigh Davis and Jesse Vogtle to Birmingham Advisory Board
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Feb. 13, 2023 —Synovus today announced the appointment of Leigh Davis and Jesse Vogtle to its Birmingham Advisory Board. Davis serves as vice president for economic and community development at Alabama Power Company. Vogtle is a lawyer and partner at Waller Landsden Dortch & Davis, a nationwide law firm with offices in Birmingham.

As vice president for economic and community development at Alabama Power Company, Davis is responsible for the company’s economic and business development efforts across the state. Before her current role, Davis served as vice president for customer services at Alabama Power Company. A native of Birmingham, she holds a bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama and is a graduate of the MBA program at Samford University. Davis chairs Samford University’s Board of Visitors and previously served as president of the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham. She serves on the boards of the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, the University of Alabama School of Law Board of Governors, the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business Board of Visitors, Ascension Alabama Health System, UAB’s O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Auburn University's Government and Economic Development Institute.
As an accomplished and award-winning lawyer, Vogtle has delivered comprehensive and efficient solutions to major case participants in complex commercial Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases for more than 34 years. At Waller Landsden Dortch & Davis, his practice expanded to a national platform representing financial, healthcare, and energy companies and creditors in both in-court and out-of-court insolvency proceedings. He advises clients on the business aspects of bankruptcy and workout, and represents clients in matters in bankruptcy court, as well as in other state and federal courts. Vogtle is active in his community, having served as chairman of the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama, the Birmingham Zoo, and more recently as president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation, which is leading the charge in near shore reef installation and oyster restoration in Mobile Bay. Vogtle is an active fundraiser for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Vogtle’s firm Waller Landsden Dortch & Davis recently announced its merger with Holland & Knight, effective at the end of this month.
