Synovus Treasury and Payments Solutions Director of Product Management and Development John E. Lucas Named to 2022 Nacha Board of Directors

COLUMBUS, Ga., February 23, 2022 — Synovus is thrilled to announce the appointment of John E. Lucas as secretary/treasurer of the 2022 Nacha Board of Directors. Lucas has served as director of product management and development in the bank's Treasury and Payments Solutions (T&PS) line of business since February 2021.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to see John represent Synovus on the Nacha Board of Directors,” said Head of Synovus Treasury & Payment Solutions Katherine Weislogel. “John has more than 39 years of extensive treasury management experience, and he brings a tremendous amount of industry knowledge and understanding to the board. He is deeply committed to the integrity and reliability of the ACH network, and I am confident he will leverage his expertise to advance innovation and interoperability in the electronic payments space.”

Nacha governs the thriving ACH Network, the payment system that drives direct deposits and direct payments with the capability to reach all U.S. bank and credit union accounts. The Nacha Board of Directors provides strategic guidance and oversight for the ACH Network and Nacha as an industry association.

The Synovus T&PS team delivers treasury management, commercial card, and international services through the management of cash flow analysis, including the streamlining of payments and collections, delivery of financial reporting, and fraud mitigation awareness.

As T&PS Director of Product Management and Product Development, Lucas directs the activities of the T&PS product management team as they ensure Synovus' treasury management products are in alignment with the bank's overall strategy, forward thinking, client focused, of the highest quality, designed for profitability, and effectively implemented and promoted. Prior to Synovus, Lucas served as product director for the treasury management business at Huntington National Bank and had a 31-year career at Bank of New York Mellon. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Robert Morris University and is a permanently Certified Cash Manager.

"Synovus and our Treasury and Payment Solutions line of business are well positioned for growth," said Lucas. "Our geographic presence, strategic target markets, and focus on state-of-the-art treasury management products enable us to offer optimized services that meet the rapidly changing needs of our clients. I am honored to represent Synovus as a member of the Nacha Board, and I look forward to working with Nacha and other industry leaders to shape and influence the governance and direction of the ACH Network and Nacha Operating Rules."

Lucas and six other executives representing different financial institutions that utilize the ACH Network began their terms as Nacha Board Directors on January 1, 2022. Unless specified, directors serve a three-year term.
