Synovus announced as presenting sponsor of Auburn and UAB basketball doubleheader in Birmingham Dec. 16

Auburn will play MTSU, UAB faces Alabama A&M in the BHM JAM, presented by Synovus.

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – Synovus will be the presenting sponsor of the BHM JAM, a doubleheader college basketball event featuring the Auburn Tigers and the UAB Blazers. The neutral-site doubleheader will be played Dec. 16 in Legacy Arena at the BJCC. UAB will take on Alabama A&M at 2:15 p.m. CT, followed by Auburn and MTSU in a nationally-televised matchup on the SEC Network at 5:00 p.m. CT. Tickets for the event are on sale now through Ticketmaster and at the BJCC box office.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring basketball magic to the Magic City with the inaugural 2017 BHM JAM,” said Nelson Bean, CEO of the Synovus local division, First Commercial Bank. “It promises to be an exciting day for sports fans and Uptown Birmingham, and Synovus is delighted to be part of this great new tradition in our community.”

“Knight Eady is proud to partner with Synovus to provide an opportunity to showcase these outstanding basketball programs that bring distinction to our state,” said Mark Whitworth, Chief Operating Officer at Knight Eady. “We look forward to working with Synovus to bring an exciting new event to Birmingham that adds value to the community.”

The BHM JAM features a 90’s theme, which will provide both fans and teams with an exciting experience beyond the in-game matchups. Fans can expect 90’s music and themed in-game activations. During the halftime event of each team’s game, two 90’s era players from Auburn and UAB will be recognized on the court.

“Alabama is home to some of the best basketball teams in the SEC, C-USA and SWAC, and BHM JAM is a rare opportunity to see so much talent on the same court. We think BHM JAM will become a great holiday tradition for basketball fans in Alabama and around the southeast,” said Bean.

This marks a rare occasion in which Auburn and UAB are playing in the same venue on the same date. Birmingham sports fans in the area have a unique opportunity to see college basketball during the holiday season, and a 90’s throwback theme for the event will give teams, coaches and fans a great experience.

In addition to the games, Auburn and UAB’s men’s basketball teams will participate in an educational and community engagement event at the Civil Rights Institute on Dec. 15.

Knight Eady worked with Auburn and UAB to conceptualize the event and will manage and market the BHM JAM.
