Synovus “Over and Under” Drive Collects More than 10,000 Items

COLUMBUS, Ga., NOV. 14, 2016 – Synovus team members collected 10,100 items during the company’s “Over and Under” drive in the month of October. Team members at all 28 of Synovus’ locally-branded banks and all support teams collected new and gently-used “over” items — coats, jackets, blankets, and umbrellas — and new undergarments for adults and children.

More than 70 community organizations across Synovus’ five-state footprint will receive the items, including Waterfront Rescue Mission, Pensacola; Morning Star Children’s Home, Brunswick; Wings of Grace, Tuscaloosa; Palmetto Community Action Partnership, Charleston; Nashville Rescue Mission, Nashville; and Sara Spano Clothing Bank, Columbus.

“Over and Under” was Synovus’ second 2016 company-wide outreach event under its new Here Matters community giving program. The company launched Here Matters earlier this year to support three primary areas of local community service: education, needs-based opportunities, and health and wellness. The first 2016 Here Matters project, a bottled water drive, collected more than 200,000 bottles for 40 community organizations.
