April 19, 2011, Columbus, GA,– Synovus Financial Corp. (NYSE - “SNV”), the Columbus, Georgia-based financial services company, today announced the selection of J. Mike Davis as President and Chief Executive Officer of First Community Bank in Tifton, Georgia. Davis succeeds John “Butch” Davis, who will retire after 43 years of service. Butch Davis will continue as a local bank division director of First Community Bank.

Mike Davis’ career with Synovus began in 1998, and he has worked in both the retail and commercial banking areas, most recently as the Senior Manager of Commercial Banking for First Community Bank. Before coming to Synovus, he worked for Colony Bank in Sylvester, Georgia. He is a native of Tifton, Georgia, and is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin College, Georgia Southwestern State University and the University of Georgia School of Banking. His community involvement includes serving as a member of the Tifton Sertoma Club, Executive Board Member of the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce and on the Board of Directors of the Moultrie Technical College Foundation Board.
