|Synovus Receives $25,000 Charitable Donation
from National Financial® to Jack Parker Scholarship Fund
April 11, 2011
The scholarship fund is named in honor of Jack B. Parker, whose career with Synovus spanned 44 years. Jack’s enthusiastic attitude, keen sense of duty and good heart were evident throughout his career. The scholarship program is managed by the Jack Parker Foundation, Inc. to award college or vocational institution scholarships to team members’ children who excel academically, demonstrate strong leadership and are involved in activities to improve their communities. Scholarship funds are generated each year through team member donations and internal fundraising activities. In 2010, 119 scholarships totaling $131,000 were awarded to children of Synovus team members. Since its inception in 1988, the foundation has awarded nearly $2 million in scholarships.
“We are honored that National Financial decided to make a contribution to support our educational efforts. This gift transcends the business side of our partnership, and represents a remarkable bond built on mutual respect and trust between our two organizations,” said Kessel Stelling, President and CEO of Synovus. “Their generous contribution connects our companies with the shared goal of improving the educational opportunities for the future leaders of our businesses and communities.”
“Synovus is a long-time, valued client and recently celebrated their 25th anniversary with us,” said Sanjiv Mirchandani, President of National Financial. “Our donation to the Jack Parker Scholarship Fund not only reinforces the strong relationship between our two firms, but is consistent with Fidelity’s tradition of charitable giving, especially when it comes to education.”
